This is a very sad news for all the people of France. The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is on fire, it is one of the city's most iconic sights. The 850-year-old Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Landmark.

There had been ongoing construction and renovation to the church that costs 120 million euros, the fire might be the connected to the recent restoration of the church. Watch the video below of the Notre Dame Cathedral fire incident.

The fire at Notre Dame Cathedral began at 6:50 p.m. local time Monday, the Paris fire department said, and continued to burn hours later. A French firefighter official told reporters the main structure of the cathedral has been saved and the two iconic main towers are intact and have been saved as well. [Source: abcnews.go.com]

Around 400 firefighters battled into the night to control the flames, declaring in the early hours of Tuesday that the fire was under control, around nine hours after it broke out.
