Got the chance to visit Milan Cathedral again last Holy Week... Did you know that the Milan Cathedral is dedicated to St. Mary of the Nativity? And the Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete! Quite long, huh? But it's truly wonderful and amazing! That's why a lot of tourist visits this place, especially the Catholics who wouldn't just visit the place and take photos but also take time to kneel and pray...

Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, and it's the official residence of her majesty the Queen. Built over 900 years ago the castle's floor covers a massive 480,000 square feet. Windsor Castle is one of three official residences of The Queen.

The castle is surrounded by some beautiful gardens and the picturesque English countryside. St. George's Chapel, inside the grounds, is a fine example of Gothic architecture and features the tomb of Henry VIII.

Windsor Castle is the 4th Top Attraction in London. What to visit Windsor Castle? Here are some helpful information on when is the right time and day to visit Windsor Castle.

Windsor Castle - opening times and when to visit

From March - October the doors open to the public at 10.00am every day, including Sunday, and close at 5.15pm.

From November to February opening time is 10:00 am, closing 4.15pm. Last entrance is 90 minutes prior to closing time.

Changing of the guard happens between 11am and 11.30am also adding to the morning rush. Many of the coach tours will commonly stay until around midday departing after the changing of the guard.

On Sundays St George's is closed for religious services.

It follows that if you're an independent visitor during the summer months, a good strategy is to visit the other attractions of Windsor & Eton during the morning and visit the castle after lunch. Visitor numbers are also much higher at weekends than during the week.

Windsor Castle is very easy to find. Coming out from Windsor and Eton Central Station, or Windsor and Eton Riverside Station, the castle walls can be seen in front of you. The main entrance to Windsor Castle is at the top of Castle Hill, on the right. The address of Windsor Castle is Castle Hill, Windsor SL4 1PD. The average journey times from London are around 60-90 minutes by coach and around an hour by train.

Chateau de Versailles

One of the most visited monuments in France is the Chateau de Versailles. The Chateau de Versailles has more than 2,000 windows, 700 rooms, 1250 fireplaces, 67 staircases and more than 1,800 acres of park. The paintings, tapestries , sculptures ,furniture of this fabulous castle, have been executed by the best Italian and French artists of the time, which makes it one of the largest castles in the world. And when I got the chance to visit Paris again, I never miss the chance of going there, to see the beauty of the palace in my own naked eye.

We take the 30-minute ride on the RER train, Line C, to Versailles Rive Gauche Station, the last stop on the line. This station brings you within just blocks of the famous Chateau of Versailles.

Lots of people want to visit the Palace of Versailles too but the queue is way too long and we're under the heat of the sun... Whew!

...and our patience has been rewarded, it surely is an amazing and beautiful place. By the way, that is the Grand Canal over there.

See that huge Maze behind me? It's been said that the movie 'The Wizard of Oz' was filmed there...

The Queen's Bedchamber. It was in the Queen's Bedchamber that the French Queen would give birth to heirs to the throne. Many people would crowd into this room to watch the event.

Welcome to the King's Chamber... :)

The Hall of Mirrors, completed in 1686, was a passage through which Louis XIV would go each day to get from the King's Apartment to the Chapel. There are magnificent views of the gardens through the windows. Mirrors are placed on the opposite wall to reflect the light, and a series of chandeliers hang from the ceiling. It was in this room that the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, formally marking the end of the First World War.
